The term Engineered Wood Product (EWP) has been commonly used for only about the last ten years.

Not only does it describe the relatively new manufactured wood products such as Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL), Parallel Strand Lumber (PSL), Wood I-Joists and trusses produced from a number of different wood components, it also refers to Glued Laminated Timber (Glulam). It should probably include both plywood and Oriented Strand Board (OSB) since these products are not only components of the afore described products, but are themselves structural elements  of diaphragms and shear walls.

Timber Systems includes all of the following EWPs in its structural timber assemblies:

These products utilise wood fibre extremely efficiently, and since they are manufactured from either veneers or small dimension lumber, smaller, faster growing trees form the main material source.
